This movie was made in 1973. One of the first movies made by John Landis! This film is so much fun! He borrowed money from his family and friends to film this horror comedy. Rick Baker, who would later work with John again on the movie "An American Werewolf In London" created the Schlock suit for this movie. I would highly recommend it! I watched it on Tubi TV. Minutes after it finished, I ordered it on here. The Blu-ray picture and sound are both just beautiful. Give it a chance if you haven't already. You won't be disappointed!

I had been looking for this one for years and finally found it here. It is an off the wall humor kind of movie. Doesnt look like it cost them too much to produce it, but that is also part of the charm. If you are looking for some great laughs, check this movie out

A classic! Director John Landis'
First film. And makeup is done by Rick Baker. They later did American Werewolf in London.
The budget in Shlock was so low, that Landis played the monster himself. Interviews w/ Landis & Baker are great!
This DVD is considered Highly Collectable!

Well, we all have to start somewhere, don't we?

A silly no-budget comedy, filled with sight gags and puns, with little-to-no plot and edited with a chainsaw: this is John Landis' "Schlock."

However, even amid all the badly-filmed wackiness, there are still some good things here, such as seeing inside jokes that would become Landis trademarks ("See You Next Wednesday") and insert reaction shots; and the real star of the show, the Schlockthropus himself, played by Landis in a gorilla suit made by another young up-and-comer named Rick Baker (who later won an Oscar for Landis' "An American Werewolf in London").

Overall, not bad for a first effort. Sophomoric and juvenile, as you might expect from a bunch of kids, but with flourishes of their later works. Worth a nostalgic look.

I remember seeing this on a double-bill with “Son of Blob” at my local drive-in. I thought “Schlock!” was funny as anything. I ordered the Blu-Ray with some trepidation, thinking it might not age well. It still plays!

The DVD arrived in good order in good time. I had seen the movie years ago and loved it. The story is obviously based on one of William Shakespeare's famous plays. Only the names, places, times and story line have been changed to fit the main character and his suit. Schlock's playful and caring nature make him the outstanding personality of this magnificent movie. Five and a half stars.

This is an old low budget movie from the 70's, so don't expect much if you watch it. I saw it as a kid and we loved it then. So I guess my rating is more on my memories than reality.
