When you receive the units they will be rusty and that is expected. I used engine paint to stop the rust before mounting the baffles. I installed them on Long Shots so I had to order 2. Very important, the plastic wrap is intended to avoid fiber spillage but the baffles are not to be installed with the plastic wrap on as it will melt and go into smoke. So you must use metal zip ties. Do not remove the plastic wrap all at once. Wear gloves and unwrap the wrap 1" at a time. Install the zip tie to that 1" and keep unwrapping to install the second zip tie and so one. Look at the picture I posted to get a better idea. I saw plenty of question about the item and its size. Simply put, it has an OD (outer diameter of 2" which makes it a perfect fit for my Straight Shot that a 2, 1/4" (see picture". You can install them on any pipe of that dimension. If your pipe OD is 3" these baffle are pretty much useless as they will leave 1" of open space. As far as noise level goes, simply put when you bought a Straight Shot set you knew it will be loud so there is no way in this world to make them sound like stock. If you want you bike to be quiet, you must consider selling he straight shot and get a stock set. I used my straight shots with the original baffle. Super loud but way better than the empty pipe. The empty pipe simply put out max rumble that makes my ride not enjoyable. Keep in mind I am using these on a 1500cc Vulcan so it is pretty loud. I also posted the video of before and after so you get a sense. What did not change with the baffles? How loud it gets at high RPM. These baffle do nothing at High RPM other than tone down the back lash you get when you close the throttle. At low RPM and idle level they round up the sound. Keep in mind these baffles have a cap that stops the full 2,1/4" exhaust so they pose a bit of obstacle to the exhaust which in returns gives you a stronger pick up and more power overall. I am satisfied with the purchase, my bike is still loud but the sound is less salvage and more round and controlled. I suggest this product if you want to tone down your bike sound. You will also notice a pleasant rumble when cruising that will allow you to hear street sound, emergency vehicle sirens and other sounds. So with these baffles you will benefit from a more controlled tones that riding with the fully open pipes (Nuts).

Pipes still loud enough to my liking, were fairly simple to install in the newer short shots that I had ran for a short period of time, Chrome covers have to come all the way off from both pipes to install but with the pipes being newer the clamps loosened right up to be removed, And stock baffles from pipes removed fairly simple also and these slid right into place using Allan wrench as a drift to line up the screw hole in the pipe and baffle once it was in far enough to get the Allen wench through both the pipe and baffle, Back pressure produced after installing these seemed to improve torque throughout revs instead of it all being at the lower end, Seems to pull throughout the complete roll of the throttle. I would suggest these to anyone that installs these pipes!
