This is a very moving 30 minute production depicting dyslexic students portraying the road they have taken to become successful in school and in life. Reading researchers have defined best reading practices, but many school systems lag behind implementing that research. These students have found success outside the school setting with private tutors. This presentation shows the emotional roller coaster these children face each day, but also portrays the amazing results of successful happy children when they receive proper instruction. It is a must see for all those who are advocating for better reading practices in our public and private schools. Even though a dyslexia student may struggle with reading, writing, and spelling, they usually display other extraordinary talents. Because of these gifts, living with dyslexia often becomes a blessing for many students who receive proper intervention. The Story of Dyslexia presentation was a work of love and dedication produced by William Montoya, for the Utah Branch of the International Dyslexia Association. William is no stranger to the subject of dyslexia, he has a child who struggles with this disability.
