Original and terrifying - great creature graphics/animation. Great acting, great everything. I am a major sci-fi and horror fan and lately I've been getting disheartened with all the garbage that's being put out. It's like they think if they just get more gore in the film it will be a better movie. Not into gore or fake-looking zombie make-up. This really hit the spot. I could even go for a repeat if I can get someone to watch it with me.

After the weaksauce dubbing of the first few minutes, I went through a lot of trouble to get my hands on the original German with English subs. It... wasn't really worth the effort. The characters are okay. The plot is okay. The acting, once you get rid of the wooden American voice actors, is pretty good. The effects are great. This all added up to...a movie that was good enough to be watchable to the end, which isn't very impressive. Maybe I would have felt less underwhelmed if I hadn't had to trek to Mount f-ing Doom and back for the original German with subs - these parts sold separately.
Give it a go if you like, but don't come crying to me if the weaksauce dubbing makes you dig your own ears out - I will make fun of you and you won't be able to hear me do it

Who knew the Canadians could come up with a intriguing SciFi concept and make it into a interesting movie? As I said surprising, unexpected, gem. Has cult classic potential. You may want to check this one out. Im glad I did.

A sad attempt at imitating the glory of the The Thing, a truly awful very boring and cheesy film. The ending makes absolutely no sense given what the characters endured throughout the film. Get rid of that baby. Sad to see something like this on here, what a waste of time. Go watch The Thing instead.

Blood Glacier is not some new classic or anything like that. However, the enjoyed the movie thoroughly. It takes inspiration from some old classics such as Carpenter's The Thing and Raimi's The Evil Dead. It resembles too Fessenden's recent The Last Winter a bit. In the end, though, Blood Glacier is a work of its own. If nothing else, Blutgletscher (the original title) provides American viewers with a European voice and style, both of which might be something different.
Overall, Blood Glacier does only a few things exceptionally. But it does many, many things well. For example, the performances, dialogue, and characterization are well-developed in this horror tale. The film-makers and crew take the time to make the horror audience know and appreciate the story's players. The story's underlying discussion is welcome. Blood Glacier provides just enough food for thought without cramming subtextual politics down a viewer's gullet. Sometimes, the best horror operates so. It provides a necessary message in its tale of warning; however, it does not bog down the audience's brains. The movie's gore effects and suspense have my compliments as well.
Certainly, the Alpine setting contributes to the film. The high Alps are both a beautiful and a dangerous environment. The cinematographer shoots them well. The director and screenwriter make the most of both aspects.
Some other on-line commentators have criticized Blood Glacier for its pacing and dubbing. Honestly, you might too. But, honestly, neither the pacing nor dubbing bothered me. I give this flick a four. You might well give it a four or a three too.

Great film. Plenty of action, gore, thrills and horror. If needed, turn on closed captioning/subtitles and enjoy!

Sure, there are somewhat rubbery monsters and all the poor decision making you expect in a horror film, but if it weren't for the awful voice acting on the English dubbing, I'd probably give this movie 3 or 4 stars. It was an interesting idea, and I suspect if it had some emotion, it would be enjoyable. But they appeared to have grabbed a bunch of bored twenty-somethings off the street to do the English dub. The voices don't feel like they match the characters (a grizzled arctic caretaker sounds like a passive aggressive college student), and they convey all the emotion you'd expect from someone discussing their TV dinner, even when the actors are obviously yelling. I look forward to the movie being released on DVD with the original audio. I'll probably give it another shot then. But the bad dubbing ruins this version. Give it a pass.

Scary, scientific movie about the environment. What's not the like about it?

The thing, if it was made in Germany in the mountains.

The central idea is a sort of what if. What if the Glaciers melted, well that is happening, but what if long dormant bacteria had survived, that is also happening, but what if it mutated creatures into mindless killing bio killing machines intent on feasting on human blood? What is they were the next step in the evolution and we were going to become their human cattle? Their fodder? What then... well it is of that ilk. I may be hamming the story up a bit in my synopsis but it is good fun.
It is subtitled but luckily a lot of it is them screaming get away you vile monster or some such line. Very competently acted. If you like diseased evil vermin monsters attacking humans, you are going to love this movie.

I give this film three stars its good not great seams to take its time to get warmed up you mite end up going to sleep I did put it back on after me sleep lol had better time with it second time around not a good sign the muntent monsters look none CGI thats all ways a plus's for me but there is something I never like its when you see the monster and the camera keeps pulling away from it thay do it with all the mutants it takes a star of for me on the good side the mutant fox.mutant bird .spider thing in the cave .insects. Was that a mutant goat looked like one were well done is it as good as the thing no to slow and the thing never did that pulling away thing yes I forgot one star of for trying to promote this as a inglish tarking film its not its subtitled some people won't like that I can put up with it now I no why they never spoke in the trailer never a good sign when the films trying to compete with a film from 1982 but it nocks the socks of that pants fest thing prequel now that was a thing slap in the face

The voice and mouth movement don't match up. Really annoying. Can't get past it, ruined the whole thing.
