Product Description
Tony Danza, Lea Thompson and Betty White star in this modern take on the classic tale Dr. Seuss' How the Grinch Stole Christmas. After bungling his latest heist, bank robber Jack Clayton (Danza) flees the big city and winds up in the small town of Evergreen. There, he's mistaken by Sarah Gibson (Thompson) and her daughter, Noelle, as the Santa Claus they've hired to promote their family Christmas tree farm. Jack plays along with the misunderstanding while casing a local bank job. That is, until his growing affection for Sarah, his encounter with a kindly shopkeeper (White) and his conscience cause him to question his criminal ways in this hilarious, heartwarming holiday tale you'll want to watch again and again!

Lea Thompson plays a widowed mother with a young daughter and a business that has financial troubles in a small town. Yes it sounds filled with clichés that we have encountered more times that we can (and want) to count but keep in mind this movie was written and produced at a time when Hallmark was in its infancy creating their own brand of Christmas offerings. In Stealing Christmas there are no decorations that cost a years salary. There is no house that has enough square footage that would be able to fit several of our homes inside it.
In many ways the story is bitter sweet throughout as it unfolds. Danza's character is closed off. He is the center of his world and is unaware that he is protecting himself from the world that is to be used for his gain. He has set up walls that he believes he controls like any walls we have created for our self when the truth is they actually control us. But Thompson, her daughter and many of the town folk model acceptance and care that he can't accept because it is so foreign to the inner and outer world he travels in. Slowly but surely Danza's character opens up -- to a degree.
We all have different tastes as to what makes for a good story. To me this was a surprising minor gem
I love it! Give is a look! You may be surprised. Its a really cool and interesting movie. He plays a criminal who makes mistakes, meets good people then changes for the good. There is plenty of drama, action, etc for everybody to enjoy. Hats off to you Tony! You are an incredible man/actor is SOOOO many ways! Sincerely! Merry Christmas everybody!!!!
