1) WolfHound IS AWESOME!!! And, mainly because things DO get lost in translation, it didn't seem to flow like a Hollywood Movie might. But, it also did NOT appear like it was produced by some amateur film maker... and the story was Great! ((( Kinda ))) Unique and it ultimately 'Made Sense' so who cares what 'other' movies are like (?)
2) The guy who played Volkodav (Wolfhound - Main Character) was killer! At some point in his life, he'd been bound, broken, beaten, and left to brew in his own anger. One day, it was gonna explode out of him.
3) The Princess IS someone you WANNA help! The actress playing the princess ((( Oksana Akinshina = Beautiful! )))) kept the film from being a Fantastic Fictional Fiasco
4) I like than than allot of Hollywood's newest Films, that all seem to be getting 'Lost in Commercialism'
5) The story really IS very cool!!!
If you get to see it, I hope ya like it
I tried to watch this movie with a open mind. I read the reviews and even though I had heard not about it wanted to give it a shot. I am a big fan of these kinds of movies. I will say it may lose a bit in the translation to English but the acting is just not very good. The story line is a bit all over the place and hard to follow. It is defiantly a B grade movie. If you like that type of movie this is for you.
Top reviews from other countries
Although foreign, this is an example that european movies can be as good or even better than american flicks.
Well paced production, good acting and well used special effects. This movie has it all, from a good classic fantasy story of good vs evil, to strong, well coreographed fights and great action.
Here i am buying the original dvd, i would place this movie side by side with movies like "Willow", "Ladyhawke", "Sword of Xanten" or "Conan the Barbarian" (although Conan is a masterpiece imo).
The main character is charismatic but humble, always accompanied by his faithfull bat friend (sometimes i wonder what is special effects or a real live pet on this one, it is this good).
Well chosen characters, the princess has a natural beauty and strong personality. The tribal wood-people are wonderful, i love the queen expressions and humor.
Action, great fighting sequences, a bit of romance, bit of humor and strong characters make this a must to have dvd to anyone who loves this kind of movies.
Landscapes and photography are great, from countryside to mountain scenes, to woodlands and dungeons, all well shot, alongside with wonderful town/village designs and well used special fx.
A bit more attention to detail could have been put in the end regarding special effects (the giant owl-like bird could be better), but the whole movie deserves a well rounded 5 stars from my point of view.
A slap in the face to all the "Dungeons & Dragons", "Eragon" and "Witch & Wardrobe" sad.. SAD movies (that had a much bigger budget).
Recommended!!!
