This is the f irst Florence Pugh movie I saw, and I haven't missed one since! "Fighting with my Family" is charming, fun, heart-breaking at times, but ALWAYS ENTERTAINING!!!! We cared about every character, LOVED when they met The Rock (he is so generous to be in this movie!), & the writing is believable and wonderful. We HIGHLY recommend this movie! p.s. We RARELY give a 5-Star review to keep them something special!
This movie popped up when I searched the title. This fact should have been in the title of the description instead of small under the movie info. Very disappointed that a movie format that can not be watched in the US should pop up when someone in the US searches a title.
The film - A biographical comedy-drama based on the rise to fame of WWE Diva Paige. The story tells of how two youngsters grow-up wanting to be stars of the wrestling ring, the show they follow week after week. Now young adults Saraya Knight (Florence Pugh) and brother Zak (Jack Lowden) have joined their parents Ricky (Nick Frost) and Julia (Lena Headey) wrestling show the WAW. A show that barely earns the Knight family a comfortable income. One evening Saraya and Zak get a call from WWE coach Hutch Morgan (Vince Vaughn ) inviting them to show him what they are made of....obviously they accept. At the O2 they find themselves auditioning as part of a group, Hutch invites just one of the group to join him at the training centre the NXT in Florida - Saraya She has had to change her wrestling name from Britani' to her chosen choice Paige. The regime is a lot tougher than Paige expected, that coupled with being 4,000 miles from home will make her question her commitment. She goes home for Christmas pondering her future, however, she will return to Florida, and in doing so gets the chance to appear on Smackdown....but, can she talk-the-talk and walk-the-walk like the heroes she'd grown up watching. The film also features WWE legend The Rock (Dwayne Johnson) who gives Zak and Saraya advice when auditioning at the 02 and again supporting Saraya's(Paige) efforts at Smackdown. Certainly a must for wrestling fans.....worth a spin that's for sure if just caught on a movie channel.
Went to see this film when it was released to cinemas and enjoyed it the first time around and to see it again was just as brilliant. I am a Wrestling fan which obviously makes this film enjoyable for myself however I do believe any non Wrestling fan and anyone who doesn't know Paige or her story or the story of the Bevis family I believe can still appreciate the film just as much. I remember watching Paige in her days in NXT, moving up to the main roster in shock watching her be the one to dethrone AJ Lee to capture the Divas Champion the night after WrestleMania 30 in 2014, and changing that Diva status for the women in WWE along with many other women to have them known equal to the men as WWE Superstars. Unfortunately due to serious injuries with her neck and spine her career was short lived. I do miss watching her perform.
